約300年前秋月藩主が放牧したのが始まりで、天然記念物野生馬の棲息地です。その姿はすぐそばで見る事ができます。
都井岬の白亜の灯台は大自然に包まれ眩しいばかりに白く輝いており、大隅半島まで見渡すことができます。
