豊臣秀吉が唐入りの際に、その前線基地として築いた城です。
名護屋城は広さ17万平方メートルの巨大な城で、1591年から1592年にかけてわずか５ヶ月で完成しました。
当時は大坂城に次ぐ全国２番目の規模でした。
