幕末の名君と謳われた佐賀藩主十代鍋島直正と十一代直大を祀っている神社です。
国内初の洋式反射炉、大砲カノン砲、アームストロング砲などを作り、近代日本の幕開けに貢献しています。
境内には、藩祖（初代）を祀る松原神社もあり、初詣の時期は参拝者で賑わっています。
This shrine enshrines the 10th and 11th lords of Saga Domain, Nabeshima Naomasa and Nabeshima Naohiro, who were praised as wise rulers in the late Edo period. They contributed to the opening of modern Japan by making the first Western-style reverberatory furnace, cannon guns, and Armstrong guns in Japan. There is also Matsubara Shrine in the precincts, which enshrines the founder (first generation) of the clan, and it is crowded with visitors during the New Year’s season.
