佐賀市のシンボルともいえるこの佐賀城は鍋島36万石の居城の跡です。
平坦な土地にあるため、城内が見えないようにマツやクスノキなどが植えられており、濠端には樹齢300年を超えると推定される大楠が並び、これらは県の天然記念物に指定されています。

Because it is located on flat land, pine trees and camphor trees were planted to prevent the castle from being seen. There are large camphor trees over 300 years old along the moat, and they are designated as natural monuments of the prefecture.
