観音寺城跡 / Kannonji Castle Ruins

日本五大山城のひとつに含まれている観音寺城は六角氏頼によって築かれ、佐々木氏城跡とも呼ばれている国指定の史跡です。1969年から2年かけて発掘された観音寺城は、かの有名な応仁の乱では3度の攻城戦が行われていました。

Kannonji Castle, which is included in one of the five great mountain castles in Japan, was built by Rokkaku Yoshiyori and is also called Sasaki Clan Castle Ruins, a national designated historic site. The Kannonji Castle, which was excavated over two years from 1969, had three siege battles during the famous Onin War.
