青洲まつりは、麻酔薬「通仙薬」を完成させ、世界で初めて全身麻酔を行っての乳がん摘出手術を成功させた江戸時代の外科医、華岡青洲の偉業を後世に継承していくためのお祭りです。本格的なメイクと衣装を身にまとった総勢40名が街を練り歩きます。「ようおこなして」というおもてなしの気持ちを大切にしており、幅広い年齢が楽しめるようなイベントが盛りだくさんです。
Aose Festival is a festival to inherit the great achievements of Hanaoka Seishu, an Edo-period surgeon who completed the anesthetic “Tsuisekiyaku” and performed the world’s first general anesthesia for breast cancer removal surgery. A total of 40 people dressed in authentic makeup and costumes parade through the town. They value the hospitality of “yo okonashite”, and have a variety of events that can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages.
